Valentine’s Day Isn’t Enough

It’s the day after Valentine’s Day. Romance should still be in the air. Men, you should still be pursuing your wife. Letting her know, without a shadow of a doubt, that you adore her and you can’t live without her. Ladies, you should still be admiring your husband and letting him know how much you respect him.

If we will all diligently rekindle our love for one another daily, our relationships will endure the years. It takes a little investment every day to make your relationships rich. Take time to stop and think of the things you appreciate about your spouse. Then take the time to tell them.

Regardless where your relationship is at the moment, taking time to speak kindly, to show appreciation, to be gentle, to love… all done with sincerity…is always better than the alternative.

I encourage you to take the lead, put your differences and frustrations aside, and speak love. Encourage one another. Build each other up. Show compassion. Become soft and open. Try to understand. Smile.

Our world and our relationships need us to imitate Jesus in the ways listed above. Change would be rampant if we all decided to do so.

In spite of the often silly sentimentality of celebrating Valentine’s Day, there’s a beautiful message underneath it all. Love is worth celebrating every day. I hope you will.
